本片是著名英国戏剧演员Janet McTeer在美国银幕上的处女演出，她成功地扮演了一个带有浓重南方口音（这对英国演员是一个挑战）的敏感单身母亲。影片里的卡车司机由导演Gavin’O’Connor扮演，也成功塑造了一位可爱的蓝领工人，连同饰演女儿的14岁Kimberly J. Brown，本片的成功应归功于这三个人的精彩演出。凭借本片，Janet McTeer获当年奥斯卡最佳女主角提名，可谓在美国业界一炮打响。
