李阳：这个决心是一辈子都在下的，一般别人说喜欢用算命这东西，说你天生就应该成功的，你的血型是A型，肯定（能成功），只不过经历了很多坎坷。
张元：那好，我们再具体地回忆一点你少年时期的一些东西。你曾经写过打架、旷课、不及格，甚至在高三的时候曾经想退学这些东西。
李阳：整个过程能回忆起来（的是）印象比较深刻的一些（事），最主要的印象其实是自己是想做一个好学生的，自己想做一个成功的人...
这是发生在北京一个家庭内的真实故事，父亲的长年酗酒导致了这个家庭处于崩溃的边缘。母亲不得不利用业余时间外出教学，以补家用。她竭尽全力维护家庭的完整，但最终失去信心。对两个儿子来说，他们的父亲明显没有给他们做出什么好榜样，而他们对未来盲目的追求也使他们屡受挫折。剧中的主要演员均由故事中的原型扮演。
本片是一部纪录片。张元和纪录片导演段锦川联合拍摄了《广场》，影片对天安门广场进行了不动声色和充满幽默的关照。此时的天安门广场已经是一个散步者、情侣、士兵、小学生和游人出入的场所。民警站岗，旅游者拍照，观看升降国旗，人们在广场放风筝，锻炼身体等，一些生活细碎的影像被纪录下来，从一个独特的视角来观察这个具有政治象征的核心地带。

We saw the 1961 film "Samson" by Andrzej Wajda on Saturday. This was a black and white movie in Polish with English subtitles. There were a few instances in which the dialog did not have subtitles. This was limited to a few lines here and there. This movie was set in Warsaw and the Warsaw ghetto during World War II. It was much like "The Pianist" by Roman Polanski (2002). The lead actor even looked like Wladyslaw Szpilman (Adrien Brody) of "The Pianist."

This was the first 'mainland European' film I saw as a teenager in the early 60s. I saw it on late-night television and it knocked me out. Later on I saw Wajda's 'Generation' trilogy and could barely believe that this was the same director. I have subsequently seen it on the big screen a couple of times and it remains a favourite from its era. The reason was simply that the creative force behind 'Innocent Sorcerers' is not Wajda but Jerzy Skolimowski.

The only available copy is very much underexposed so it's hard to actually see what is going on in this early Antonioni venture. However, it explores the wee hours of a profession altogether unglamorous and is a small tribute to people that keep European cities from being overrun by rats and rubbish.

Having recently seen L'Avventura and Scenes from a Marriage back to back they seem as different as it is possible to be. Yet they do share a common ground, namely humanity's quest for love and understanding and the seemingly insurmountable obstacles that lie in the way. But whereas Bergman's film has moments of true warmth and happiness, Antonioni's L'Avventura is as brutally cold as a Scandinavian winter.

Boy was I annoyed with Antonioni for suggesting i sit in an art gallery screening for nearly twenty minutes and watch this.
