But, here it is in all its craziness. This was the first 'mainland European' film I saw as a teenager in the early 60s. I saw it on late-night television and it knocked me out. Later on I saw Wajda's 'Generation' trilogy and could barely believe that this was the same director. I have subsequently seen it on the big screen a couple of times and it remains a favourite from its era. The reason was simply that the creative force behind 'Innocent Sorcerers' is not Wajda but Jerzy Skolimowski.

Andrzej Wajda could make better movies while asleep than most other directors could in their top form. The hand of master could easily be seen here, and he wasn't even trying. The setting and costumes are well prepared. Andrzej Seweryn as Rejent and Janusz Gajos as Czesnik deliver very good performances, they alone are reason enough to see the movie. This was a very fun film to watch and Polanski uses a lot of camera tricks to make this a visually interesting film. I heard that this was considered "Funny and Sexy" and it is very humorous but I can't consider it that sexy. He gets Sharon Tate in a film and she takes like three bath's but nothing else happens.
