Basement Jaxx：前所未有的大牌

　　你知道，如果要选出九十年代最成功的跳舞音乐组合，Basement Jaxx（地下室混音小子）必定会是其中之一。他们的音乐，更被外间套上“Punk Garage”这个新标签。当然二人组Basement Jaxx会拥有这样的称号实在是因为他们过人的才华，从流行化的House音乐到绝对适合跳舞的Progressive House舞曲，他们创作了无数的舞池圣歌。

　　以南伦敦为基地的Basement Jaxx的成员Felix Burton和Simon Ratcliffe是在一个船上的派对中相识的。他们在南伦敦的布里克斯通区一间墨西哥式餐厅的地库，开始他们的DJ生涯的。这也是Basement Jaxx队名出处的一种解说。他们的DJ Sets是不受任何音乐疆界所限制的，你可以在其中找到House、Funk、R&B、Reggae、Latin、2 Step Garage、Drum'n' Bass 及Hip Hop等不同元素。

　　到1994年，Basement Jaxx创立了自己的音乐厂牌Atlantic Jaxx并推出自己的作品。他们的第三张EP作品《Fly Life》更是成为流行榜的大热作品。结果，Basement Jaxx被招揽到著名的独立厂牌XL旗下（旗下的著名艺人还有The Prodigy和Roni Size等）。在1999年夏天面世的首张大碟《Remedy》并没有让众人失望，令Basement Jaxx获得三个Brit Awards（全英音乐奖）的提名。另外，他们更在Miami Winter Music Conference（迈阿密冬季音乐盛典）中获得“最佳新人”及“最佳舞曲表演”的奖项。所以，Basement Jaxx被外界誉为把House Music带到下世纪的时髦人物，实在当之无愧。

　　2001年，乐团的第二张专辑《Rooty》更是大打流行牌，其中大量好听且旋律化的歌曲让听者仿佛回到了跳舞音乐最初产生的那个年代。其中的歌曲很多都是时下世界各地的DJ们依然还会播放的经典作品，比如《Remeo》、《Just One Kiss》、《Broken Dreams》等等等等，这些都是跳舞场景中永恒的经典。
