《火把剧团》导演阐述

作者阐述:


当老茶馆和川剧成为很多人对四川的一种浪漫想象,“变脸”甚至上了中央电视台春节联欢晚会,我想纪录一个比想象更真实的“火把剧团”。


在翻天覆地的市场经济大潮冲击下,中国许多传统的文化和传统的生活方式正一天天消亡。在这样一个日益浮躁、膨胀、庸俗和娱乐化的社会,川剧演员王斌、李保亭是两个极具代表性的人物:一个选择坚持,一个选择放弃。至于为什么选择坚持、为什么选择放弃,或许连他们自己都没有弄明白。面对这个华的世界,更多的可能是他们对生活的无奈……


对细节的刻画是我喜欢的纪录方式。真实生活不是表演,真实生活是模糊的,是支离破碎的。我无法测定、也不想测定那些细节背后所蕴含的所谓“本质”。然而,这些生活的碎片,特别是它们被精心组织在一起的时候,不可能不让你去想象,只是不同的人看到想象得不同罢了。这正是纪录片最能吸引我的地方,也是纪录片最具魅力的地方。


我不是导演,生活本来就在那里,我只是用摄影机纪录我所见到的生活。


 


Message from the filmmaker:


While the old style teahouses with Sichuan Opera performing become part of an imaginary portrait of Sichuan Province, and even the unique traditional art of “face-changing” was shown on China’s most prestigious television, I wanted to record the real life of a “torch troupe” rather than its idealized image.


In today’s China, traditional cultures and life styles are disappearing. Wang Bin and Li Baoting, two Sichuan Opera masters, represent most Chinese people living with the effects of the overwhelming change in Chinese economy. Facing an entertainizing society characterized more than ever by fickleness and vulgarity, they made different choices: Wan tried to hold on to the tradition, Li decided to give up, for some reasons that they themselves might ignore. But both feel helpless.


I tend to pay more attention to details when recording; in my eyes, real life is not a planed acting, it’s ambiguous, scattered in small pieces. I cannot and do not wish to find out the essence behind the phenomena. When these pieces of life are put together in a documentary, they will surely intrigue a viewer and make him imagine, in his own way, the life being recorded.


I am a filmmaker documenting real life the way it is with my camera, not a director.
