电影《
长江南岸至德县，西邻佛教圣地九佛山。
江有田（贾智海饰），下过放、当过兵、上过大学，还常在报刊杂志
发表诗作。有妻室、有儿女、也有情人，还有个让人嫉妒的清闲工作。
县图书馆的工作环境，儒、佛、道的传世著作，强烈地影响着他。
一个至高而又神奇的理想，使他舍弃世俗一切，选择了修炼神佛之道。
访山寻庙，苦修圣功，寻师父、住山洞，历经万苦。
后得师父“活神仙”的指引，要他放下脸面，学会乞讨，才能成神仙。
为了能修成神仙，他踏上行乞之路。在乞讨中由于不能真正放下脸面，
世俗的打击和难忍的饥饿，使他的理想完全被吞噬，他想到死……
惨得是、寻死却被人痛打，原因是他、死的方式连累别人。
再次寻死，死神将会怎样安排……

The Film Being God
Brief Introduction
Zhide County, on the south bank of the Yangtze River, to the west of Mountain Jiu Fo, a holy land of Buddhism.
Youtian Jiang (played by Zhihai Jia), who was at one time forced to do the labor work, once served in the army, had been educated at university, often had his poems published in newspapers and periodicals, is enjoying the life with his wife, children, lover and an idle job envied to others. Working in the county library, he has been strongly influenced by the various ancient master pieces of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. A supreme and mysterious dream makes him to abandon mundane lifestyle and turns to the supernatural practices of Buddhism by traveling in mountains, living in caves, looking for temples, seeking for masters, accumulating charitable deeds, and suffering other untold hardships.
His master, ‘the living immortal’, enlightens him that only after he forgets the face and learns how to beg can he become immortal whereafter he gets on the mendicant journey. Unable to lose his dignity entirely in mendicancy, he starts to think of dying when his dream is broken up by the defeat of common customs and unbearable hunger.
What eventually becomes bitterer, he gets clobbered when he is reaching for death because he chooses a way of dying that gets someone else into trouble.
To commit suicide once again, what will the Death make an end to him…
