DV电影节:卫学奇《阿莲》

故事梗概:
    中国南方,珠江三角洲,是改革开放最早的地方,也是中国经济最发达的地区之一。工厂遍布顺德,中山,东莞等地,生产的产品销往国内和国际市场。经济的发展,带来了大量工作机会,上百万的内地打工者离开贫困的家乡来到这里闯世界,外面的世界很精彩,工厂的生活却是枯燥单调的。本片的故事,就是在这样的背景下展开的。
    阿莲,一位来自农村的女孩,她和阿信在同一间厂打工,是一对恋人。阿莲和阿信每天在生产线上作着重复的工作,还要经常加班。下了班,两个人喜欢去街头的录像厅里看香港电影,或者到不放电影的电影院里看些低俗的表演来度过空虚的业余时光,一切都很平静。偶然的机会,老板的朋友到厂里办事看到了阿莲,他被阿莲的轻春气息所吸引,因此阿莲被调到办公室,这是许多打工妹渴望的事。阿信对此一无所知,直到发现阿莲得到一部手机,矛盾就此激化,两人分手了,阿信只是一个收入微薄的打工仔,无力去抗争,能做的只是离开。他不辞而别,换了另一间工厂做工。
    阿娟是阿莲的同事,她的烦恼是每天摆脱不了打工仔阿华的追求,没人知道她想什么,甚至连辞工走的时候也没有告诉阿华。听打工热线成了阿华摆脱失落的心灵鸡汤。终于有一天阿华在发廊找到作了妓女的阿娟,阿华因此也染上了性病。不幸的是阿华来到一家地下诊所,被医生骗去了一大笔医药费。当得知被骗以后,阿华不假思索地举起了菜刀......
    阿莲大概是被老板的朋友甩掉了,她想回一次家乡,她向阿信告别。在家里,她被作警察的同乡强奸了,在强权之下她没有选择的权利,她嫁给了警察。而阿信,在寂寞中等待。他来到和阿莲告别的地方,突然从一辆车上下来几个人把阿信推上汽车,他无辜被收容了。


A Brief Outline of the Story
  
The Pearl River Delta in South China was the initial area of reform and opening, and also one of the most economically developed places. Factories were found everywhere. Commodities from Shunde, Zhongshan and Dongguan, etc.rush into foreign and home markets. The expanding economy created much jobs. Millions of rural workers had been leaving their needy hometown for getting jobs. The outer world is colorful, but working is hard and dull. This was the background of the film.
 
Alian and Xin, from rural area, were sweet heart worked in a same factory. They worked in the production line where a series of actions were repeated over and over again., and often overworked. When off duty,They often spent their empty off hours in seeing Hong Kong-made movies in the video showroom at the corner of the street; or tawdry shows in the movies houses where did not show movies. So far everything’s going very peaceful。By chance,a friend of the boss’ ran across Alian in the factory and attracted by the dew of youth. Thereby, Alian was re-assigned in the office, which is the opportunity that many a girl was itching to obtain. Axin had no knowledge of the matter at all. As far as he found Alian accept a cell phone, the conflict was sharpened and they parted. Xin was too poor to protest the disrespect with which he was being treated, the young man could only leave. Did He does without saying goodbye and turned to another factory.


Ajuan was a workmate of Alian. Her trouble was that she got stuck with a young rural worker everyday, Hua. No one knew what she's thinking,even when she left, she did not let Ahua know it. Ahua took the hot line for rural workers as good medicine to shake off his drop. So far as one day, Ahua found Ajuan in a hair house, who turned into a call girl. Ahua contracted venereal disease. Miserably, Hua was defraud of all of his money as medical costs in a black clinic. At the minute of getting the truth, Ahua raised a chopping knife without a moment’s thought…  


Alian might be thrown off by the friend of the boss’. She intended to go back to hometown for some time and said goodbye to Axin. She was raped by her ever classmate, a cop before the day when she came back. It seemed that she had no alternative in the life. She married that cop for a better life. And that Axin was waiting in loneliness and sorrow。One day when he was on the spot where he made farewells to Alian, a few people, suddenly, pushed him up to a vehicle. He, sinlessly, was taken in collecting ward.

   卫学奇,男,1971年生于中国山东,就读河南郑州轻工业学院工业设计专业,
毕业后分配到山东工作。同年辞职,只身赴广州。开始就职于私人广告公司,
从事平面设计工作,96后成为自由职业者,现以平面摄影为生。
   由于热爱电影,2000年,自己投资3万元,编剧导演制片:《落雨的天空
45分钟,betacam。
   2001年,拍摄纪录片《江南印象》45分,短片《发生于早餐的意外事件》10分钟。
   2002年,编剧导演主演制片DV:《渔人码头》75分钟。该片反映了在广州
年轻人的生活状态。
   2004年,编剧导演制片DV:《阿莲》69分钟。该片反映在中国改革的前沿,
珠江三角洲的工厂里,几个外乡人的打工的故事。



My History


    My name is Xueqi Wei and was born in Shangdong Province, China,
   
    I love movies, so I keep trying to make films with my own money. In year 2000, as the playwright, the director and also the producer, I put RMB30,000 into a 45-minute film (Betacam) named The Raining Sky, which had received ample sneer and was not attended to by anybody.


    In the next year, I finished another 45-minute newsreel named Impressions on South of the Changjiang River; 10-minute short film  A Matter in Breakfast.


    In 2002, I was, in fact, a conjunction of the playwright, the director, the producer and the leading actor, made a 75-minute DV《fisherman dock》in which showed the life of Guangzhou youngsters.
 
    By the end of year 2004, I was, still, as the playwright, the director, the producer, made a DV named Lian, which is 69 minutes long. The film showed us, in the front line of China’s reform, Pearl Delta, the employment history of several strangers and their maze.


导演阐述:


    中国八十年代改革开放以来,广州,深圳,东莞,中山等城市构成的珠江三角洲,成为中国经济最热的地区。中国已经成为世界的加工厂。在各个工业区内,厂房林立,人群涌动。经济的发展,带动了各行各业的复苏。上百万的全国各地的年轻人从贫困的农村和内地城市涌到珠江三角洲形成了前所未有的打工大潮,民工潮。


    我一直想拍这样一个题材,真实表现打工仔打工妹生活的片子。我也是一个外省来广东的年轻人,并且在这里生活了十年之久,也熟悉工厂里的打工生活,在电影电视上,也能看到表现打工题材的片子,但是大都离真实的生活相去甚远,繁荣的表面插满了假花。打工其实是有深刻的社会原因的,大多数的工厂打工者生活在内地贫困的农村,在异乡漂泊的感觉是惆怅的,忧伤的,外面的世界远不是想象的那么精彩,打工的生活艰辛而枯燥,精神的痛苦和压抑超过肉体承受的超负荷的工作压力。在很多工厂,超时的工作和可怜的收入,使许多打工者多年以后仍旧两手空空,他们的地位是卑微的,收入是微薄的。有些工厂打工者的权益是得不到保障的,曾有宿舍发生大火,门和窗子被锁死导致死伤一百多人的惨剧。走在大街上,随时都有可能被抓而送进收容所,只有缴纳三百块钱以后,才能离开。大多数的打工者将来依旧会回到他们曾经离开的家乡。对此我不能视而不见。


    中国由于曾经贫穷导致现在人们对金钱的欲望,贫富分化加剧了社会矛盾。权利和金钱从来是一对孪生兄弟。现实中挣扎的小人物,现实中往往成了权利与金钱的牺牲品。权力成了满足私欲的工具,普通人只能在强权下屈服。一个真实的故事使我找到了拍摄这个题材的契机。一个打工妹告别男友回家乡过年,在回厂前被自己作警察的同学强奸,而结果是她嫁给了警察。这个故事和打工者在工厂的生活,构成了这部片子的基础。


    采用手持家用DV的方式,使本片具有了写实主义风格。本片的演员全都是非职业的,因为我不想看到那也所谓专业演员的做作表情,这不仅仅是经济的原因。没有完整的剧本,只有故事大纲,台词都是即兴表演。没有灯光,服装部门。拍摄时我一手拿DV一手拿话筒。在找演员的时候,遇到很多困难,大多数人不愿或羞于出镜,破费口舌,毫无进展。我让女朋友演1号阿莲,我在工厂找到了男1号阿华,和女2号阿娟,在街头找到了刚刚失业的男2号演阿信。场景选择了我朋友开的工厂。2004年7月终于开拍了。片子的后半部分是在距离广东24小时火车路程的广西完成,女主角的家乡,同样遭遇了找演员难的问题,有些角色找了邻居来演出。庆幸的是片子总算完成了。


    通过这部独立制作的小片子,我希望观众看到当代中国人的真实生活写照,虽然没有漂亮的场景,精美的服装,但是它有最真诚的关注。把注意力放在社会的最底层,这让我感觉到土地的力量。


 


Director’s Words


 


Since China have carried on the reform and opening policies in the eighty.


the Pearl River Delta including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Zhongshan, etc, had turned into the hottest economically area. Many a factoried and crowded manufacturing district was established. China was fast becoming the workshop of the world. The expanding economy revived all walks of lifeMillions of young blood, from all parts of the country, mostly from needy countryside and inland towns, overflowed into the Delta. Here found an unprecedented tide of rural workers flooding into the Delta.


 I kept trying to make such a themed film, in which I could show the real life of rural workers. I was also a foreign youngster and lived in Guangzhou as long as ten yearsand I knew well about the life. There were, in fact, some movies and plays which tried to show the mentioned-above theme, but, most of them far removed from the truth. Artificial flowers were on a prosperity. A commanding social problem should be attended to herein. Most of the rural workers came from inland poverty areas. They left their home for better life. They wandered from place to place, driven from pillar to post. They felt disconsolate and grievedThe outside world was not as colorful as imagination. The jobs were hard and dullThe mental suffering was far beyond the overwork of body. In many factories, working overtime and regrettably income went together, so as to even several years later, many rural workers ended up with empty hands. They were in a low position. Their rights could not be warranted. It was remembered that there had taken place a tragic in which more than 100 workers died in a big fire due to the locked room they stayed. The workers, any time when they were walking in the street, might be caught and put into the ward and they could not leave until they paid three hundred. Finally, most of the rural workers, in future, might go back to hometown they ever departed. I couldn't keep my eyes shut to all above-said.


    A lust for money was resulted from poverty. Popularization between the rich and poor boiled up social conflicts. Power and money always went hand in hand. Small potatoes always twisted their way through the briar patch and became the victim of the evil and injustice.Power was an instrument to slake one’s lust for selfish desire. Everyman could but yield in power


A true story gave me an opportunity to make such a themed film. A girl made her farewells to boyfriend and went back home to have her Spring Festival. She was raped by her ever classmate, a cop. It was turned out that she married that cop. The story and the life of rural workers were the base of the film.


    With a potable household DV, the film showed a realistic style. All the actors were non - professional. As for this point, not only because I had no much money, but I annoyed at pretentious impression of those so-called actors. There was no complete playbook, but an outline of a story. The actor’s lines were ad-lib. No lights, no clothes either.  When filming, I held the DV in one hand, a mike the other. I also encountered so much trouble in the matter where I was looking for actors. Almost all of the persons I fund were unwilling to go together with me or camera-shy. I had a great tug to persuade them but things still went round in circles.


In short, No.1 Alian is my girl friend, hero No.1 Ahua and heroine No.2 Ajuan in a factory. I found jobless hero No.2 Axin in the street.I chose my friend’s factory as the scene of the film. Eventually it was in July, 2004 that filming started.  The film’s second half was completed in Guangxi  Province, the leading heroine’s hometown, where was almost 24 hours far from Guangzhou by train. Similarly, over there, I also met a difficulty to get actors. So some were neighbors.  There, that was done, thank goodness.


    Via this self-made mini film, I wished viewers could get an idea of the real life of rural workers. Though there were no attractive scene, trendy clothes and dress and beautiful actors, it had the biggest and sincerest concern on the people live at the foot of the social ladder. This made me alive to the power of the earth.
