Jurassic 5是由4名来自LA的Rappers: Chali 2na;Zakkir ( Soup );Akil;Marc 7even和两名DJ: Cut Chemist; DJ Nu-Mark 在一家LA Café-GOOD LIFE 相见。成员分别来两个不同的组合：Rebels Of Rhymes 和 Unity Committee.经过长期的合作之后，他们组合了Jurassic 5, 并且在1995年，为TVT Records发行了一张Single- Unified Rebellion. 1997末， Jurassic 5 EP终于发行了并且得到了90年代挑剔的Rap Fans的一系列好评，成员Chali 2na 和 Cut Chemist 都来自Latin 组合 Ozomatli, Cut Chemist 甚至发行了若干张Mix tapes并且与来自invisibl Skratch Piklz 的Shortkut 发行了专辑Future Primitive Soundsession. 2000开始了他们的 live show….并且在夏天，Jurassic 5发行了Quality Control 专辑。2000-2001年期间J5 着继续着他们的Live ，并且在2002年末发行了第三张专辑Power In Numbers. 1997 Jurassic 5 EP

Track 1 In the Flesh 就好像他们的自我介绍。。。就像Wu tang clan 的bring da rucks 。。。每个mc 各显神通。不过和wutang 不同的，4名mcs更加喜欢一起rapping Track2 quality control part II (skit) 好像问着fans where is Quality Control part I???? 也为第二张album Quality Control做了铺垫。。 Track3 Jayou是我在这张专辑里面最喜欢一首歌， 不单单有着笛子的伴奏，更有着4名不同MCs团结的Lyrics和Flow.并且告诉不知道他们的人们J5就是这样的Original，告诉了他们对当今社会生活的看法。。以及他们Rapping想做的事情。 “We be the crew, guess who, the Jayou R-A-double-S, I-C, we're in the place to be, it don't stop We got the rhythm that makes your fingers snap, crackle, pop pop, fizz fizz We're known to give a show plus handle our biz-ness Stress, we'll destroy We're known to make noise as the original b-boys in the flesh, greater to the depth Creates the ill scenes when we manifest, yes ”
值得注意的 Track 4 Lesson 6 The Lecture 仿佛是两名DJ的个人秀。。。简单的Tone table 运用，速度的变化 和 精彩 beats… 让人在经过track 3 Jayou 的疯狂之后。。。的一阵清风。。。对我来说，也许胜过一股清风。。 另一首歌Track5 Concrete Schoolyard, 告诉了fans什么才叫真正的MC "Let's take it back to the concrete streets original beats, real live MC's. Playground tactics, no rabbit-in-the-hat-tricks just that classic rap shit from Jurassic." 4名不同风格的MC s 一人一句的Rap以及一起的合唱,好像告诉了fans..Rap不是骂来骂去，想想回到过去，那是多么的美好。。。。。。 经过Track 6 Setup的一个break 之后，Track 7 Action Satisfaction又是一首来自Underground 最真情的表现。。 最后的Track 8 的sausage out仿佛告诉fans j5是对这张ep多么的自信。。 完美的演出就这样结束了。22：05分钟的EP给了生活在90年代gangsta hardcore rap普遍的年代的fans 一股清风。。。一种“安静”。。。也许是一种回味。。。
2000 Quality Control LP

2000年经过一连串的Live show之后，Jurassic 5 终于在夏天发行了Quality Control LP 在这张LP里面，仿佛把Fans带回了1982年的East Coast, 不过，Jurassic 5 不单单是old School rap的一个再现 ，更加是整个hip hop的一个进步。 J5还告诉了fans 他们是怎么Control着the quality of their own music！！ 4名MCs 的合唱以及在各自rapping skill在这张专辑上凛凛精致地体现了出来, 两位DJ 控制着beats,似乎又是old school 的苏醒。。。fat bassline, fat drums, fat samples统分利用又是在21世纪初少有的。。在这个世界里，新的是旧的，可是在Jurassic 5的世界里,旧的却是新的。想想，在我们不同的生活里，时常不是这样呢？ 在本张专辑里，j5 好好地控制着15首歌 54：51分钟， 整张专辑非常连贯，Track 1 who we get along+Track2 Influence 再一次告诉了new+ old fans 什么是j5 .. Without the elements, it's all irrelevant Niggas love to Freestyle but hate to Fellowship” Track 10 Jurass Finish First MC Chali 2na 和mark 7even的全力合作 一人一段的rapping…Chali的醇厚性感的voice加上mark seven 的smooth style..给人深刻印象。。（想必chali 2na是j5最受欢迎的吧！所以来了一个和mark sevend的2人合作，fans 期待已久啊！） 个人认为这张是j5 最好的一张 整张album没有什么匆忙的product,也许在这张album的背后，j5 告诉着我们Quality Control…………….. www.rapreviews.com ：Music Vibes: 10 of 10 Lyric Vibes: 9 of 10 TOTAL Vibes: 9.5 of 10 www.allmusic.com: 4星（满分5分） 又是长时间的Live Shows, 2002年末，仿佛每年Rap界的重头戏都在这个时间。。好多大牌都喜欢在这个时间发行album…(还有一个时间就是年中）2002 年末，我最喜欢的3张albums就是nas god’s son ，j5 的power in numbers和talib kwela的quality.期中j5的风格是最为突出的。。。也就对这张专辑特别的关注。 整张专辑，还是一贯的80年代old school风格，不过在这张专辑里面，j5不但继续抓住着他们忠实fans心，而且多元化的beats招来了更多的新fans..本张专辑include 2 smah singles- What’s Golden 和 与Nelly Furtado 合作的Thin Line..正是这两张single,给更多年轻hip hop fans认识到Jurassic 5的机会。。（我想说，希望他们不要失望。。。Old school rhymes 不是很容易上手的，要细听的） 快点进入正题，playful voice 的akil在 what’s golden 里面表现突出： "We still the same with a little fame A little change in the household name but ain't too much changed We in the game yo, but not to be vain I refrain from salt grains to season up my name We entertain for a mutual gain from close range Steady aim, my drum at your head to hit the brain I'm labor ready, Rhodes scholar for the dollar Work for mines, pay me by the hour" Thin Line 更是讲述了人与人，男人与女人之间的thin line.. Nelly 地加入vocal部分把这首歌带入了另一个境界。。更佳的pop fans 加入。。 不但提高了点播率， 更让Jurassic 5想说的东西充分的告诉了fans… Chali 2na 那种deep-throated voice 在thin line里面说到： “Yo, this is a lesson in friendship The depths of a kinship What women and men begin with, and then slip My pen drips As I scribble my thoughts on thin strips Of emotion A fraction, seduction, attraction Eruption of passion Corrupts if a lasted friendship's involved But love to cross the line But that's why we built these walls” 除了这两个single 之外，在这张更大众化的album里面良点更是颇多。 Track 2 Freedom Mark 7even “Are we there? Track 3 If You Only Knew 笛子？的伴奏？惊奇。。又是一人一段的rapping 好像睁着出风头？不。。。这种配合恰到好处。。 “The pen positioner Tip the Richter scale” “If you only knew, the trials and tribulations we’ve been through But if you only knew, we real people homey just like you We humble but don’t mistake us for some corny ass crew What we do is try to give you whatcha ain’t used to SOUL MUSIC SOMETHING WE CAN ALL RELATE TO”
Track 6 A Day At Races和Big Daddy Kane的和作，火箭炮急促的rapping。。。。这就是a day at races…哈哈
