10th Annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival April 25th - May4th, 2008
We are now accepting submissions for the 10th Annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival which is scheduled to run April 25 - May 4th 2008 in the heart of fashionable South Beach , Miami and in neighboring Fort Lauderdale .
2007 Opening Night Gala, The Picture of Dorian Gray, at Gusman Center for the Performing Arts ABOUT THE FESTIVAL Each year the Festival screens over 100 international and domestic features, shorts, documentaries and experimental films. The MGLFF is one of the premier LGBT festivals in the US , and the largest cultural event in South Florida . Our early Spring dates enable us to launch pad many of the new enticing, challenging and exciting queer titles on the international and national festival circuit. We will be announcing new and exiting plans for our 10th anniversary event on our website throughout the year, join our email list at www.mglff.com
In the past nine years we have had the distinction of presenting 28 World Premieres, 56 North American Premieres, 32 US Premieres, and 84 East Coast Premieres.
PRIZES The MGLFF presents both juried and audience favorite awards with cash prizes totaling $9,000 and are divided as follows:
Fiction Feature Award- Best Juried Feature - $5,000 Documentary Award- Best Juried Documentary - $1,500 Audience Award for Best Fiction Feature - $1,000 Audience Award for Best Documentary - $1,000 Audience Award for Best Short Film -$500
The MGLFF is one of the nominating festivals for the prestigious Iris Prize valued at $25,000 see www.irisprize.org

DEADLINES
Though the deadline for feature length submissions is January 18th 2008, we can accept works in progress on the understanding that if invited and selected for exhibition that film must be completed by early April 2008.

SUBMITTING YOUR FILM
Entries should be submitted on the official Entry Form which is available on-line at www.mglff.com with a direct link to withoutabox. Please note that withoutabox.com is our preferred form of submission. We ask and encourage all filmmakers to submit their work to us using withoutabox.com
DVD and VHS screeners (NTSC or PAL) are the preferred format for submission. Preview screeners must be clearly labeled with the title of the work, running time, filmmaker’s name, and contact telephone number and email. Please test consumer-burned DVD on several makes and models of players before submitting to our offices. If selected to screen in our lineup, exhibition is in both film (35mm only) or Digi Beta or Beta SP NTSC (we cannot exhibit on Beta PAL formats). While the MGLFF does have the technical equipment to exhibit DVD (NTSC or PAL) the festival has encountered some technical projection problems with this format in the past and actively discourages feature films to be exhibited on DVD, or shorts longer than 10mins in length.
