My name is Marina Foxley, I am the director of an association called Fragments, based in Nantes, in France, whose goal is to set up cultural events as well as to help artistic, interdisciplinary projects. In February, I participated to the first edition of Directors Lounge in Berlin which occured at the same time than the Berlin International Film Festival. Different artistic works were screened showing the works by various artists, filmmakers, video-artists. http://kultur-in-berlin.de/ For the second edition, Directors Lounge will be situated in the Galerie im Turm, located in one of the domed towers at the Frankfurter Tor, in Karl-Marx-Allee, on February, 9 - 19. 2006. The announcement of the second edition has been launched : http://kultur-in-berlin.de/DL2006.htm I proposed to the organizers to present some works from China and Andr?Werner, the director of this event, was also interested in this idea and agreed. Several works from various places of the world should be already scheduled (some experimental works from India, some contemporary experimental shorts from Cuba, which will constitute both a special line-up, but also other works...). It seems that this edition will screen a certain amount of works from Asia, since other Asian artists are about to join the line-up (India, Singapore, Bangkok...). I would be pleased if we could collaborate together to set up a special line-up of works by Mainland Chinese filmmakers and video-artists. Li Yang wrote to me that it might be possible to schedule some of the documentaries that you are about to show at your Independent Documentary Festival in December. In order to keep a suitable, assorted line-up, I thought of alternating documentaries and shorts during 2 evenings/nights since several other specials and other works will be also screened during the event. Also, it would be better for Directors Lounge to screen documentaries that do not last too long, and if possible with English substitles.
