美食村,90年代曾繁华一时的美食广场,如今成了破败的城市村落。高楼变成廉价的出租屋,住着城市底层的商贩、流氓与妓女,三宝与婷婷就是这美食村中的一对男女。
某天,婷婷在回美食村的路上,遇到了抢包小贼,站在楼上的三宝为其解围。出于感激,婷婷做了三宝的女友。
婷婷厌倦了做妓女的生活。三宝也在美食村遇到了靠收破烂为生的父亲,三人组成了一个临时家庭。
婷婷为了摆脱“面条哥”等黑势力的纠缠,打算陪“大老板”一个月,并对三宝撒谎说要回老家。三宝从婷婷姐妹那里知道真相后,愤怒地站在了“大老板”的车前……
在影片的最后,一个老妇人吃力地搬动一块大石,一次又一次,如同加缪笔下的西西弗斯。
而美食村渐渐缩小,成为城市一角,远处,一列城市轻轨驶过。
该片是高文东“城市三部曲”中的第二部。导演的目光关注自己生活的城市角落:一个貌似城中村的地方。在这部群像式的电影中,导演尽量规避摄影机的存在,用“第三只眼”的视角构成了一幅独特的民间生存画卷。
This is a film based in gloomy realism; it is continuation of directors understanding of marginalization of life.
The film is about people who live in Sweet Food City , Sweet Food City was prosperous in the past, but now has hit hard times. Most residents are migrant families. Many street sellers, young people ,the gangsters and prostitutes. .San Bao and Ting Ting belong to this sociality.
One day,San Bao bumps into his dad in Sweet Food city, his dad is collecting recyclable material to sell at small profit. The father moved in with his son and Ting Ting. San Bao and Ting Ting take all the initiatives to help his family. At the end of the movie, a shoe repair lady keeps moving the same stone, just like Albert Camus’Sisyphus in jiamie’s book.
Director tries to persuade us that the poor have an immutable drive for happiness.
In order to accomplish their goals, they take risks. But often they achieve nothing.
So this movie is about a frustrated wish for happiness.
This movie is the middle one in a trilogy of films about Dalian city . Wendong picks a deprived district in the middle of a busy city. The director did his best to avoid the intrusion of the cameral in the life he was portraying; he used the ‘Third eye’ angle to portray a unique picture of ordinary peoples’ lives.

上个世纪80年代,中国实行开放政策,区域经济迅猛发展,许多商业项目应运而生。20年后,一些建筑成了城市“鸡肋”。美食村就是这样一个地方。昔日繁华一时,如今成了廉价的出租场所。小商贩,打工者,妓女和小混混经常盘踞的地方。既有飯店,也有健身房;既有武馆,也有教堂。而且,這里的建築集合了中國各地傳統景觀,曾因此而號招國內美食種種,故名:美食村。
因为历史原因,这些建筑得以保留,现实中:美食村离这个城市最繁华的中心地带,只隔了一条马路。卻呈現齣截然不同的兩種生活。
07年的春天,我們剧组開始進入美食村。我发现:自己对美食村的了解还远远不够。在我们的演员和美食村居民足够亲密接触中,我开始调整剧本。我坚持“记录”,坚持“自然发生”的,并顺其自然。
半年后,我们的工作室(电影中出现的那个光阴故事电影工坊)也放在了这里。并在美食村的工作室里,完成这部影片的后期制作。
In the 1980s , China adopted a policy of reform opening it to the outside world. The economy in many areas developed rapidly. In the rush to develop, some buildings were considered unfit for further use. After as little as 20 years. Sweet food city is such place. The rents became very low. The street were littered with stallholders, youths, gangsters and prostitutes. It has a church but this contrasts with many open air hongfu practice areas.
For historical reasons, sweet food city has been left in this unfortunate state: It is back ward but only one block away from the modern city.
I have been interested in this area for a long time. In the Spring of 2007, when my film crew started to work here, I realized I did not know enough about this area. I started to change the script after I got to know the residents better. I continued to record their real life, doing what comes naturally.
After 6 months I moved my work shop”Time Story movie works” to this deprived area . I finished all postproduction there.
I sincerely hope this area will never be knocked down, I wish as in the movie,that it can become a creative industry site just like 798 in Beijing.
Now, everyday I still live with these people. Although outsiders are prosperous and live in the different world. But the people in the sweet food city they are the happy ones. This is why I made the film.
