2007年11月底，由露天电影院工作室和银河影业有限公司沙坪坝电影院联合主办了第一届“造影青春：重庆民间映画交流展”，在两天的时间里，总共放映了近二十部短片作品，观众约500人次。沙坪坝电影院的小型放映厅里，晚到的观众直接坐在中间的过道里观看影片，更有很多人站在后排。
At the end of Novenber of 2007, the first Chongqing Independent Film & Video Festival was held, by the Open-air Theatre Studio and Shapingba Movie Theatre. Nearly 20 short films were played within two days. Almost five hundred audience watched these films. In order to make every participant get the best enjoyement, all the films were screened in small theatres. So, a lot of the theatres were at standing room only.
这是重庆民间影像作品有史以来规模最大的一次放映。对于那些默默无闻的作者（很多还是学生）来说，这也是他们的作品第一次呈现在大银幕上。尽管有些作品已经在其他场合露面，但在商业影院里的非商业放映，也让参加的作者们有了期待和兴奋。
In the city of Chongqing, this was the unprecedented showcase of Independent Films. This was the first opportunity for local film makers, mainly college students, to show their works publicly. Even though a lot of films were shown in real theatres, this opportunity of showing all the films in commercial theatres for non-profit aroused people’s expectations and excitement.

中国独立电影的发展，有其自身特殊的轨迹。一方面是数字视频设备和计算机的普及，使得影像制作的成本降低，另一方面是体制与政策的限制，让绝大多数影像作品缺乏公开放映和流通的渠道。处于中国西南地区的重庆，独立影像的制作和交流几乎悄无声息，自生自灭。“造影青春：重庆民间映画交流展”正是以此为背景和契机，希望让更多人看到优秀的中国独立电影，让作者和观众们更有价值的进行交流和沟通。
Flying in its own orbit, Chinese independent films are making progress in an accelerated-speed. The popularity of digital video equipment and personal computer has made the cost of independent films lower. The limitation of the political system in China, now offers little opportunities for independent film makers to show and sell their works. Located in Chongqing, a city in southwest China, the manufacturing and trading of independent films are done in an illegal method and in a non-government-regulated way. So the Chongqing Independent Film & Video Festival, originated from this background and its opportunity aims to make the film directors and audience enjoy a better exchange of ideas.
几年以前，露天电影院工作室负责人和沙坪坝电影院经理的一次私底下的聊天，促成了这次影展。没有繁文缛节，没有领导讲话，最直接的放映和放映后的交流，是影展最看重的环节。针对观众的问卷调查显示，他们非常喜欢这样的活动，因为“看到了平时很难看到的东西”，当然，遗憾也暴露出来，“观众和作者的交流时间太短”，“放映空间还有待扩展”。
A couple of years ago, this film festival was facilitated under a private conversation held by the heads of the Open-air Theatre Studio and the manager of the Shapingba Movie Theatre. After the film festival, public discussions were held, without the usual red tape and political propaganda. According to the directors and participants, this format allows for a more artistic and creative envienment for viewing real artistic film. However, this festival was held only in one district. We would like to have this festival held through out Chongqing city in the future. We would also like more discussions planned between the film directors and the audience.

The cooperation between Open-air Theatre Studio, a non-government orgnization, and the commercial Shapingba Movie Theatre, is only a test on how Chinese independent films would work in a positive way. A little bit of positive effect would make sponsors of the festival feel better.
